John McKay and Mike Rekeny

“Lowell has always been home for me,” said John McKay, a Lowell High School graduate who lives in the community with his family. “I’ve always believed in being involved, whether that’s coaching wrestling or helping people in the community when they need it.”

McKay says that same mindset carries into his work helping homeowners with roofing and exterior needs. “When you live in the community you serve, you take pride in doing things the right way. These are the same families you see at school events and around town, so trust matters.”

His business partner, Mike Rekeny, brings a strong technical background to the company. Rekeny began working in construction at 14 before earning a Master’s degree in Engineering from Kettering University and spending 15 years in engineering. He later completed an MBA from Western Michigan University before transitioning into the roofing and exterior industry.

“I realized I wanted to build something that allowed me to help homeowners directly while still being present for my family,” Rekeny said. “My engineering background helps us approach projects with a problem-solving mindset, especially when working through insurance-related repairs.”

Together, the two share a simple goal: provide reliable service while building a business rooted in family values and community trust.
